Our Future

Recent years have brought a great deal of change to Knit-Rite. After spending 2020 navigating the new world brought by the global COVID-19 pandemic, Knit-Rite was purchased by the Thuasne® Group in January 2021. Thuasne, with a 175-year history of medical device manufacturing, is leading Knit-Rite into a future that includes expanding global markets and a move toward greater corporate and environmental responsibility.

Becoming a Global Company

  • Knit-Rite is now part of the Thuasne Group. Like Knit-Rite, Thuasne has a long history of being a family owned and family run company.

Thuasne was founded in Saint-Etienne, France in 1847 as Cattaert et Compagnie by Auguste Cattaert. In those days, Thuasne specialized in the sale and distribution of ribbons. In 1914 Cattaert’s grandson, Maurice Thuasne, took over the company. In between the two world wars, Thuasne shifted focus toward medical products, guaranteeing the company’s independence.

Maurice Thuasne’s descendent, Elizabeth Ducottet was appointed CEO of Thuasne to continue growing the family business and support the company’s international development. That’s precisely where the Thuasne story meets up with the Knit-Rite story, as Knit-Rite is the latest of a number of acquisitions from around the world.

  • One initiative that Knit-Rite is particularly excited about is Corporate Responsibility. Thuasne has challenged us to make changes in business and production practices to reduce our footprint and become greener and more sustainable.

As we move toward the future, we will continue working to increase our corporate and environmental responsibility.
